What is WordPress?
WordPress is free software that anyone can use to build and manage a website, completely made by volunteers. Now powering over 1/3 of all websites in the world, you might recognize some of your favorite celebrities and brands that use WordPress.
What are WordPress meetups?
Meetup groups are locally-organized groups that get together for face-to-face events on a regular basis (commonly once a month).
From developers to designers, from entrepreneurs to publishers, hundreds of thousands of developers, content creators, site owners, and hobbyists gather at monthly meetups worldwide.
Anything that brings together 2 or more people to share their WordPress experiences counts — there’s no minimum number of attendees or required format.
These events are for people who love WordPress and want to share their knowledge, experience, and meet other WordPress users in the area.
There are over 700 groups in 100 countries around the world, and WordPress Gwinnett is the official local meetup chapter here in Gwinnett.
Meetup group events (commonly referred to as meetups, which can be confusing since people often use the same word to describe the group itself) take many formats:
- presentations/lecture series,
- hack days,
- social gatherings,
- workshops,
- co-working,
- WordPress help sessions,
- contributor days, and others.
